  1. The above answer refers to a wider arc and again like in your spin question, the technique of trapping the ball. Again hitting the ball before taking a divot. The above answer also does a good job of showing that a higher ball flight isn't always best.  Being able to hit the ball high or low when needed is the key.

Another thing to consider is what club the other person is hitting. The loft of the club, manufacturer, and swing can all play into the height of ball flight. I have also noticed, that personally with blades, I hit my irons higher than I used to. I think this comes from making a better swing, and trapping the ball more.

  2. Well it depends on some things.  Which club are you using.  A short iron will fly higher than a long iron.  Second, if you haven't been fitted for the clubs you use, the others may have.  Maybe you are not getting full contact on your shots.  I've hit shots with the same club and they don't have the same trajectory because I didn't make the proper contact with the ball.  I wouldn't be that concerned about it, but if you are, go to your local pro shop and get your clubs custom fit.

  3. maybe they have more loft in their 7 iron than u do or any other irons.....maybe they just get under it better, but dont try it u will just chunk it!!!!

  4. you may need a better ball or if your using a ball that you found in the waater or the second choice is that you need to ***** sportinggoods and get a costomised set of clubs

  5. pick up your swing speed.  theirs might be going high because they are getting under the ball too much. this isnt always a good thing. you want the ball to go at  a 45 degree angle for the correct height to give you the longest distance. its all projectile motion.

  6. It sounds to me like you are referring to a driver swing not an iron.  The other answers are correct if it is an iron,  but if you are speaking about a driver then tee the ball up higher and hit it above center on the face.  Also your drivers loft may be too low for your swing.

  7. Practice.

Getting height could mean a bunch of things - maybe the loft of your clubs are different than the people you play with. You could be gripping the club too hard. You might be coming down at a steeper angle.

check this video out on higher shot trajectory:

  8. Check to see if the shaft you have in your driver is one that you should be playing. The kickpoint and whether it is tip stiff or not can all effect ball flight. Often the shaft has more to do with the loft as it can make a bigger difference on spin off the club face. If you have a decent swing there is no reason to change your motion just change the equipment that will work better.

  9. Well first off its not necessarily a good thing even though it may look pretty.  One of the main reasons behind it is the person is imparting alot of spin on the ball which is why it goes higher.  This may not be good because if it goes high it may not go far or can be hard to play with in windy conditions.  Also if you hit the ball high naturally, it can be hard to keep the ball low when needed to (i.e. me and my callaways).

As far as your answer, there are several ways to do it but they all have to do with hitting the ball cleanly and very solid.  You might try to wider the arc of your swing so that the club comes into the ball on a shallow descending blow and you make a small divot after the ball.  This is what the pro's do......
