Why does my bathroom smell like sewage?

The smell started a few weeks ago. Like two or three days after the smell started someone used the bathroom and after flushing the toilet "dark stuff" came out of the shower drain and clear water started comming out from under the toilet. We went to home depot and rented a 75 ft snake to clear the lines. We removed the toilet and ran the snake down the hole... all 75 ft. After removing what was blocking the line we put a new wax seal under the toilet and put it back in place. It is now two weeks later and the bathroom has been throughly cleaned with bleach but the smell still persists. Although we are not home all day so i wouldnt know how it is when we are not there the smell is always stronger in the afternoon. It is barely noticible in the morning or at night. Also, from other research online the toilet makes a slight gurgling noise when flushed but not always and does not appear to be clogged because water from toilet drains properly. Please HELP!

get your drains flushed by a contract drain cleaning firm

if that doesnt help. contact the local firm who are responsible for the sewers in your area. there may be a blockage somewhere,

ask your neighbours if they have a similar problem

sounds like you still have a clog either in the vent or the drain

in addition to a clog in the drain line it sounds like you have a clog in one of your vent lines the only advice i can give you which might work is to go up[ on the roof and run a snake down any vent stacks you find or call a plumber ,the oder you smell is methane gas so i would take care of it soon

A suggestion would be to pour water into all your drains to  make sure there is water in the trap of the drain (that curve in the drain under the sink--and in the bath/shower).  If the water is not sitting in that trap it will allow the smell from the pipes to come up into the room.
