Question:

Why does my bird sleep like this, and is it okay?

She used to sleep with one foot on her branch, and another tucked into her fluffed up feathers.

Lately she sleeps UPSIDE DOWN, hanging from the ceiling of her cage by one foot, and the other claw is clutching some of her tailfeathers. I find this extremely odd. She hasn't been doing anything else weird, and she's about a year old. Does anyone have a clue why she does this?

  1. If your birdie is a parakeet, then it is not wierd for it to sleep upside down on the top of the cage because there are certain breeds of parakeets that sleep like that... but if they are getting kind of "up-there" in age... you might wanna take her to a vet... although that would cost quite a bit of money = /

    I Really Hope This Helped!!

    Good Luck!! =]]

  2. sleeping on one leg with one tucked is so very normal.  Sleeping upside down is normal for alot of birds.

  3. shes probably scared. do u cover the cage at night with a blanket?.. hm.. if so make sure u dont cover it all the way and just mess with her like touch her feet from the outside of the cage so she can get back to the perch and she'll stay there but make sure she sees light cuz she'll get scared. my parakeets like that too every night i have to leave the light on and half the cage uncovered until she falls asleep. my male parakeets different he doesnt care but i guess it all depends on the parakeet

    GOOD LUCK!
