Why does my boat ski pole say not for tubing?

We have a 23 foot hurricane with a pole that sits just behind the outboard engine for waterskiing.. right on the pole it says "not for tubing" why is that? what would happen if i hooked up a tube to it?

  1. Hi! There's nothing wrong with the ski pole on your boat. It's the placement of the outboard engine... safety aspects.

    With stern drive there's always a danger of slack/loose rope getting caught and also, accidental prop strike.


  2. the tube could get more air because its being pulled from a greater height and you can get hurt sort of like the kite-tubes that were on the  market a few years back. _ just because that s the correct answer doesnt make it bad. no, you probably wouldn't get hurt but the manufacturers have to cover their asses. it isn't because of weight because those towers and poles can withstand a lot of stress and weight. one babana boat wont be anything compared to 1 skier or wakeboarder making a progressive cut.

  3. maybe it isnt strong enough for like a 3 or 4 person tube or a banana boat, something like that.  I see people tubbing with wakeboard towers all the time so I wouldnt think it would really for the air aspect.  Maybe if you have only a 1 or 2 person tube it would be okay, I think I would give it a shot.......be safe!
