Why does my boat turn the opposite way that i'm steering, and how can it be fixed?

I've just installed a new dual rack steering system, but when I turn one way it goes the other.

Do the oppisite.

If I understand you installed a rack and pinion steering system that has two cables.  One is mounted on top of the helm, and the other under the helm.  Simply reverse the two cables to the opposite sides.  It's a ten minute job.  That will fix the problem.  Good luck!!!!

That happened to me once.  I have a no feed back steering that was replaced. When the new one was installed the apparently threaded or feed the cebeling in the opposite way. It is a very easy fix for someone that knows what they are doing. I had mine installed the day before we left on a boating vacation. We live in Florida and towed the boat to Dale Hollow Lake in Kentucky. After a very long drive I backed the trailer down to a packed landing and to my surprise it went the opposite way. I almost nailed several boats at the landng and received many dirty looks thinking Floridians could drive. I dealt with it that day and found a small boat repair shop the following day that was able to fix it in about an hour. He charged me like $40 but I asked him to inflate the bill to $100... keep the tip and I would have my local dealer reimburse me for the money, He saved my vacation and the idiot that installed ate the difference.

Dont loose sleep over this, sounds like an easy repair.

CABLES AT THE HELM ARE INSTALLED WRONG  TAKE IT OUT  AND PUT THEM BACK THRU THE OTHER HOLE
