  1. Because you have OVERWORKED underused muscels.  Take a break/rest a few days.  When you start again, lighten up on the weights and take your time.  Rest a day - exercise a day.

    All the Best.

  2. this happens because your muscles aren't used to the weights. with time, the feeling will decrease as you lift weights, cause your muscles will be stronger

  3. When you exercise/lift weights your muscles are actually tearing - this is how they grow.  It's normal.

    Lift weights every second day.

  4. When you lift weights you are putting strain on your muscles & doing minor damage to the tissue and it takes a couple days for your body to rebuild & repair the damage.  This is not a bad thing because when your body does rebuild, it will build it bigger & stronger.

The best way to make it feel better is massage.  More so than heat packs or ice.  Stretch more before & after your workout to minimize the pain.

  5. well when i turned about twelve i tried to help my dad get more encoureged in loosing whieght by lifting weights with him, and my muscles hurt som badly and i think that it was because i hadnt been lifting weights before and to just start lifting weights that were like 40 pounds, my body just wasnt used to it!

so i would just say to maybe go down a couple of pounds on the wieghts if it is your first time starting. then you can ease yourself into lifting heavier weights as time goes by so that your body can slowly get used to the pressure and it will more then likely stop the pain!!

    good luck!

  6. That's normal

  7. When you do a heavy workout, you're actually making tiny tears in the muscles from the stress of the workout. It takes a few days for these to patch up, and your body builds new stronger muscle tissue along with it!

  8. maybe uve got a hernia

  9. weight lifitng is the process of providing resistance to muscles and this effectively tears the muscle tissue, which means when it grows back and repairs itself, it will do so in a way so that the muscle is stronger and able to handle more resisitance the next time (provided you eat high protein foods - as they are the building blocks which allow muscles to grow)

that it why your body feels tightened up

you need to allow 2 days rest period after weight lifting so your body can repair itself and your muscles can become stronger

  10. thats because your sore

  11. it is b/c when you lift weights it actually tears the muscle and causes a lactic acid build up that eventually makes new muscles, the lactic acid is what causes the burning for two days. It is always good to stretch before and after practice. Also, when you workout with anaerobic exercises, such as powerlifting, you should always get alot of protein into your body so that it can build the new muscle

  12. Because when you work out you create teeny damage to your muscles, which then heals up stronger.  That is just how we get stronger.

Some aching is to be expected, but you can counteract much of that with a stretching routine that really gets deep into the muscles.  If you are already stretching, you might not be stretching long enough or you might be missing out on muscles that would be helpful to stretch.  Stretching should take care of most of the stiffness and leave you just with a little aching around the edges:  Nothing that a little over the counter painkiller won't handle.

If a good stretch won't take a lot of that away for you and the aches are worse than an over-the-counter painkiller won't handle, you may be doing too much too soon or injuring yourself.  It is then a good idea to talk to your trainer or someone at the gym about what you can do to customize your workout so it is better for you!

  13. lactic acid build-up in your muscles, the key is not to stop working out and stretch before and after each session, it will eventually subside

  14. your sore, or you have a hernia, or you overworked yourself(working out)

  15. Because you're using musceles you havn't used in a while and it's making them sore. You shouldn't work out again untill the pain goes away and if it doesn't in a few more days you should go to the docters.

    Hope this helps

  16. i heard it is good to stretch before and after exersizing, that way your body won't get so sore

  17. muscle strain.

    over exercising.

lifting weights that are too heavy for you.

    start off with something smaller.

and you could be lifting them or using them wrong.

simple really.try calisthenics - using your bodyweight as the weight, you'll find the exercises more fun and you get a better strength to weight ratio really.

  18. its called being sore.  Next time try stretching AFTER you lift

  19. if it feels tightened, then that means youve worked hard!

if you havent done much to do with weights before, it might just take some getting used to. maybe use slightly lighter weights and build it up.

you may have a pulled muscle.. dont work out for a few days and if the pain isn't gone - you should probably see a doctor.

  20. You're working muscles that have never been worked and this can sometimes cause soreness and tightness... it just means that it is working .Once you get used to doing it, the pain will lessen significantly.

  21. Cause your muscles are strained...
