I make scheduled recording for my cable dvr, but it doesn't record, even though it has space. Should i call my cable company? Then it starts to record again, then stops again.

  1. First make sure there are no recording conflicts.

A reset may also help. Unplug from power, wait 30 sec and plug back.

  2. One thing I've found is that if the program's name is altered in some way, it won't record.  You could try manually setting the time and day to record regardless oI what program is on.

I nearly missed an Episode of BSG due to this cute feature.

  3. Yes call your cable company. Your DVR might be getting ready to fry. If you have Charter Communications as your cable company they are notorious for faulty equipment.

  4. How did you set up your recording?  If you tell it to record only new episodes and the one on is a repeat (as in, it has already aired, NOT that you already have it recorded), it won't record.  Check how you set it up before you contact your cable company, as I doubt it's anything to do with your system.

My boyfriend records new episodes of "The Office" and since it's on summer hiatus, nothing is recording.  But when it comes back on for first-aired episodes, it will start recording again unless it's a repeat; then it won't record.
