Why does my cable tv work only through the VCR?

I came back from vacatin, and to watch tv (channels 14 and higher) I have to turn on the VCR and view them through the VCR, otherwise it is staticy. I have tried a different cable cord, and even bypassed the vcr and plugged the tv cable cord directly into the wall jack- same result. I also reset my converter box- no help. I have WOW cable- anyone else had this problem?

Make sure or TV is set to the Cable or CATV setting.  Channels 2 - 13 are the same for Broadcast TV and Cable above 14 they are different.

The TV may have defaulted back to broadcast. On the remote look for menu or similar each TV is different.  Then look for channel setup and look for the CATV cable setting.  It will now be on Broadcast /Antenna/ Over-the Air setting.
