Why does my call waiting not work when i am on line i have dial up?

  1. If your modem is dialing *70, 555-5555 (ISP PHONE NO) then the *70 is disabling he call waiting, you need to make sure that the *70 is removed from the dialing properties.  

    That took me a minute to remember, dial-up, old school.


  2. Your PC needs to have a V.92 capable version of modem.

    V.92 modems will work with Call Waiting and Caller ID.

    The feature your want is also referred to as MOH - Modem On Hold.  That is just one of the advantages of V.92.

    Talk to your ISP.  They may need to be setup to support V.92 modem service, otherwise, it still may not work if your ISP isn't supporting V.92 service.

  3. Why would you want call waiting while on-line? It will just cut you off.!!??  It may be in the dialing string of your dial-up software to turn off while you are on line.!! (It is usually *70)
