I have had an 88 Corsica and a 2000 Impala during the past 20 years and both cars constantly have drank up antifreeze like soft drinks. I bet my coolant light comes on at least once a week. There are no leaks anywhere, so what else could it be?

  1. make sure your radiator cap is sealing correctly.

  2. When the car is cold check the oil.   If the oil is gray color you have a blown head gasket and need a new car.

Either that or you have have a leak in the hoses.  If the hoses are old, replace them.

  3. Normally you should go a year or more without needing a drop of fluid, you have to have a leak somewhere in the system.

  4. If there are no visible leaks, it is going out the exhaust.  You have a blown head gasket or, worse, a cracked block or head.

  5. You better make sure the coolant isn't leaking into your engine. Coolant is a corrosive and can ruin your engine!
