I have a 2000 mitsubishi eclipse and I recently installed a k&n short ram air intake in my car. It gives me all the things it promised, the nice engine purr, the power boost etc. But my engine gets pretty hot after five miles or so. Is this because I still have the stock exhaust connected? Will getting a new exhaust fix this problem?

  1. Its because a short Ram air intake is taking the hot air from your engine bay, The better option would be a cold air intake which will give u better power and better fuel economy as well as a longer engine life

  2. i installed on in my mitsubishi diamante it has the same effect, you need a heat shield for it. or maybe one of your cooling components is going. put the stock components back on and see if it still overheats.
