Question:

Why does my car smell so bad?

When I bought it I thought it was just because it had been sitting on the lot a little too long and that as I drove it the smell would disappear. But since then I've only been able to mask the smell for a short amount of time. My friends have described the smell as a crayon smell. I would have to agree. I just want to get rid of it once and for all!!

  1. look for melted crayon under the back seat

  2. replace the interior of the vehicle or leave some "arm & hammer" in the car and use lots of air freshners

  3. That's weird! Maybe you should get it checked out at the local garage!

  4. If its a volkswagen..then thats normal...Its the sound deadener they spray under the carpet, it affects 99-2004 as far as i know

  5. maybe it is a crayon...melted into the vents Dumps some febreze in the vents

  6. Maybe the interior of this car got wet at some point. Now mold and mildew could be forming under your carpeting. Try to lift up a corner of the carpet to see or smell if anything's there. If this is the problem, you have a big job to tackle, since at least, the front seats have to be removed in order to change the carpeting. Try bringing it to an auto upholstery shop. they will be to help you.
