  1. Possibly the fan clutch in not operating properly. if the fan clutch test is ok then change the thermostat as it may be bypassing.

  2. your engine will most likely be at its cooler temperature when you are moving at higher speeds, since more airflow is available during those times, whereas when sitting still or moving slowly much less air is entering your engine

  3. Because there is less airflow thru the radiator. The heat moves from the engine to the radiator to the outside air via the radiator. When the airflow stops going thru the radiator because you have stopped or slowed down, then it is understandable that the temperature could go up. I would say 10-15 Degrees is no big deal, anymore than that you may have a problem. May a bad electric fan or fan relay or temperature switch.

  4. cuz there is no air going through the radiator when you are stopped.  Also stop and go driving generates more heat than highway driving.

  5. you probably have a electric fan and they are set to come on only at a high temperature like 210, so the cars sits there and heats up till it comes on..  or it's broke..

it doesn't need a fan when it's moving..

  6. Your car is over-heating. You could have a blowed head gasket, or your radiator needs changed. OR your car could be out of antifreeze or your sensor could be bad.

The best way to check is, take it to an auto part store near you and ask what they think and they will hook you up with the part.

I had a car that over heated and my sensor was bad. So i could never tell when it was over heating. One day i was driving down the street and boom, smoke just came flying out of my hood. It blew!

  7. How old the car would help. If it is a newer car, your fluid is low.  If it is older it can be any of the other problems above.
