  1. He loves you. It gives him a feeling of security knowing that your around.

  2. He's an attention w***e!

  3. Aplus, thats a stupid answer. :)

I suggest ignoring your cat. And he will learn that he doesn't need to be watched to eat. However, if your basements door is often closed, you should leave it open so the cat can get in. That may be why cat wants you to follow. To open the door.

  4. Because you have two cats, this means that they are probably worried that the other cat is going to steal their food so they want you to watch so their food will not get eaten by the other cat.

A friend had this problem and she fixed it by putting each cats food dish in a different place so they know where they go to eat.

    Hope I helped, X.

  5. I agree about the basement. Bring your cats food to the kitchen or something. He will have more company with you walking around or doing whatever. No one wants to eat in the basement all lonely.

  6. There actually probably scared, I mean the basement is a cold is dark place usually they feel safe knowing that you are there. Move there food dishes to a place a comfort for the cats.

  7. Some cats and dogs are just "social eaters." I worked at a veterinary clinic where people also boarded their pets, and there were always a few who would only eat when people were right in front of their cage or even petting them. Maybe move the food dishes to an area where there is a little more traffic. I know as soon as I get home my cat says hello and then heads right to her food dish.
