Why does my cat bring me odd things at night?

I have two cats, but one has a weird habit. As soon as I turn out the lights to go to bed, he jumps off the bed and goes down to the kitchen. I hear him coming back up the stairs with a garbled "meow", a constant weird meow. he walks into my room and he has a morning breakfast bar or a packet of koolaid in his mouth. I like it when he brings the bars, because I eat them for breakfast. Anyway, he drops it right in front of the bed and then just looks up at me. Then he hops in the bed and goes to sleep next to me. Last night, I took the breakfast bar that he brought to me and ate it at like 3:00am. By the time my alarm went off at 7:00am, he had another one waiting for me by my bed. My cat is usually not that "smart", he gets by on his looks. So, what is he doing?

  1. that is amazing!

at first i'm thinking how its relevant to how a cat hunts and brings the hunted object to their master (aka bird, mice etc).

Animals are very smart and some show it in different ways. Has your cat seen you eat these bars in front of it in the kitchen? or other things? maybe it wants to bring you the things it sees you eat or etc.

It's really adorable though and you should find a way to get it on video or something. lucky!

  2. to show u he loves u and wants to take care of u. or maybe he wants some.

  3. Very cool! I wish my cats would do something useful for me once in a while. Instead they have me trained to bring them food...

  4. He might like the noise the wrapper makes.

Some of them have that metalic "crinkley" foil type stuff that cats really like.  Some cat toys are made out of it, and some cat toys crinkle like that.  Does that describe any of his toys?

Maybe he thinks it's a strange new gift just for him?

Cats are most active at night.  If he's bored and cruising around, he might have found them and wants you to play.

  5. Are you diabetic by any chance?

If not, I honestly don't know except to say that cat is clearly quite enamoured by you and is also very smart.

"Gets by on his looks" ahahahahahahaa!!!!!! Good one!

  6. its ur cat showing u his appreciation by bringing u sumthing he thinks u like it may sound strange but it is true my friends cat did this while it wuz a kitten she grew out of it but she brought in mice nd lizards. (it may b a little differnt but bout the same habbit) 2 show her ur appreciation her why dont u giv her something speacial in return?

  7. Cats often kill mice etc and bring it to their masters.

I guess it is the same thing?

    Sounds cute to me.

  8. giving you presents its his way of thanking you for being good to him. Hey your lucky my cat leaves dead lizards and mice on my front porch!

  9. Probably sort of like an offering to you like they would normally do with a prey they catch outside. My cat brings me her toy mice to bed sometimes or if they are still upstairs she brings them downstairs to me cause she wants to play. She probably sense your pleasure when she brings them to you so it becomes a habit

  10. WOW !  I think this is so awesome.  How luck you are.  I don't know why he does that.  How long has he been doing this?  How old is he?  Give us  more details about this amazing kitty!  He obviously loves you.  : )

  11. Woow, he takes care of you i think :)

Funny. Make a video of it and post in on youtube.
