Its really annoying because i feel like i cant cuddle her because she will drool on my bed or on my clothes!

She is around 5 years old, i got her from a shelter and she is very friendly and loves attention but she dribbles everywhere!

How do i stop it and can i catch anything from her dribble? (a friend told me cats can carry alot of viruses/bugs in their spit) Should i be worried?

  1. She is just happy and relaxed, like a dog kinda. Nothing you can really do to stop it.   And as long as she isn't drooling into an open cut you will be fine, and if she is it just might get infected. Cats can carry some diseases in their bacteria but its rare that any of them will seriously harm a human, they just cause infections, and they are common with any cut that isn't treated.

  2. Dribbling or drolling is a direct respond to your petting. Cats react differently when stimulated. Some roll on the floor with pleasure, some stick their buttocks high up the hair, some will even vocalized in a sing song manner.

If you cat has been vaccinated and up to date with her shots, there is minimal chance that you will catch any disease from her saliva. So, that really isn't a concern.

Although you may be tempted to correct of fix this behavior, unfortunately, stimulated drooling is involuntary. Your cat cannot control his response to your petting. However, you can help him swallow his saliva instead of drooling by lightly tapping him on the nose or by stroking his neck and gently tugging his head upwards. Also, have some paper towels or cloth ready to clean up. :)

  3. hehe because she LOVES it. I once rubbed my cat, Daniel's ear so good he was drooling everywhere! It was kind of cute, like I had done my job.

  4. yes u should put a  baby napkin around her neck and give her a baby sucker

  5. just have a bandanna or a paper towel handy. next time you go to the vet make sure she doesn't have a dental problem.

  6. My cat did that his entire life.  It never hurt me.

  7. I thought my cat did this because she is so old. I think it is normal.

  8. Haha, I had a cat that did this... and his favorite spot to be petted was right under his chin. There really isn't anything you can do about it, just keep a paper towel close by if you don't want it on you...
