  1. It's a change in her surroundings and it will upset them. Just like if someone all of a sudden yells you'll freak out too.

  2. Because she was scared not only for herself but for you too. She thought there was something wrong. She might have thought you were hurt. Imagine being that small and hearing a really loud scream. Cats only scream like that if they are injured. Your cat probably thought you had been injured.

  3. There are several reasons: first of all, cats are all about routine and stability, so when you and your bro were messing around and you yelled, she had no idea how to react because it wasn't something she was used to seeing or hearing. Another reason is that cats' hearing is extremely sensitive - some cats can even tell the sounds of their owner's car from the others around them. That being said, things that don't seem that loud to you are amplified by 100 in her tiny ears. Finally, she probably sees you as primary caregiver, or as a cat sees it - another member of the "pack". When you appear to be in danger (even though you were playing) she may have panicked and thought you needed protecting!

  4. My cat does that too when I yell or make a loud annoying noise. She tries to look in my mouth.  I think they are trying to find the noise and make it shut up!

  5. stop giving her drugs

  6. Just whipped the cat up a little bit... no big deal

  7. Cats sense tone and pitch which is there sign of a stressed environment. They are very perceptive of the tone because that tells them when to be ready for danger. Also the cat sensed your stress and out of his/her's protective instinct he reacted. The meowing could have been territorial because you were on the floor and the stressed environment. He could be trying to protect you by intimidating your brother. It could be any of these things but the moral of the story is give her her own space and keep a calm and positive environment.

  8. Cats have 2 times the hearing we do so don't yell its going to be really loud for your cat

  9. Cats have higher sense of hearing and smelling. So, what they hear is almost like 10 times as what we hear so they'll get freaked out more. My cat does the same thing. I think its because they dont know whats going on and instinctively go into defense/survival mode because they are scared of not knowing whats going on. Since animals cant communicate with words or understand words, all they can do is feel, so they depend primarily on how they feel; if scared they go into defense/cautious mode etc. Also maybe she thought you were harmed and was making sure you were ok. : )

  10. You just frightened her. Nothing that bad.

  11. Remember cats hear things 10 times louder then we do..so always keep that in mind and plus they sence what we are feeling especially if they have a close bond to us. Your cat freaked out thinking something was wrong and plus it was very loud to her. So don't worry your cat loves ya!!

  12. Umm...  'Cause like Dogs, cats can tell when something is wrong and yelling signifies it.  Be happy your pet cares so much about you.
