Why does my cat hide in back of some thing so much?

I dont understand why my cat is hiding behind things so much. hes not afraid of any thing but the past 2 days he been hiding behind things and its hard to found him around the house. i call for him he never responds, and then when I do found him I tell him to come here and he just sits there, and then I pick him up. I dont know if he is sick or some thing any advice thank you guys.

How long have you had him?

I just brought my kitty home yesterday and he was curious but would hide as soon as anyone walked towards him.

If you have had him for a long time,I would definitely take him to the vet,if that's not his normal behavior..and it doesn't seem like it is...then he may be sick.

it could be sick but my cat hides all the time she just likes nice quiet places

Cats are small, so they hide when they feel intimidated.  What is your household like?  Any changes in it?  Pets or people move in, or move out?  Any new guests coming over?  Move recently?  Or maybe, you just rearranged the furniture.  Cats are a lot more sensitive then people give them credit for.

I will be frantically looking for one cat and calling and calling and my black cat will just be sitting in the shadows... as if to say "I was sitting right here if you just looked in the right place!"

They like cozy places to sleep.  just a cat thing.
