He does it every time he sits/lays on my fleece blanket and our female cat does it on my legs when she snuggles.

  1. Cats do that when they are happy and feeling safe and comfortable. It's what kittens do when they are trying to get milk from their mommy. They usually purr when they do it and that's always a good sign.

  2. awww my cat does the same thing!

  3. In the wild animals do this to press down the grass to make a sort of bed for them in whatever material they are about to lay down on. Also it helps to sharpen their claws a little

  4. Out of 4 cats over the years, only 2 did that. It's comforting to them, like a baby sucking its thumb.

  5. ITS BECAUSE SHE IS HAPPY, COMFORTABLE, AND TRYING TO MAKE THE BLANKET HOW SHE LIKES IT. ITS A GOOD SIGN!!

  6. It's what kittens do when feeding from their mother.  It produces more milk and it shows that the cat has bonded to you and thinks of you as it's mother.

It's really a neat thing to watch.

  7. It's a leftover reflex from kittenhood.  When they're nursing, the kneading motion helps the milk flow.  When they're older, they do it when they're cozy and content.
