Why does my cat like to be under the blankets?

Question

I have an 7 year old tortise shell cat. Her name is Spaz. I work nights and when I am sleeping during the day, she insists on being under the blankets right up next to my feet. She sleeps on top of the blankets between my boyfriend's legs at night and has never tried to get under the blankets with him or while both of us are in bed. I can't imagine being under there for as long as she is as it is a down comforter and can get hot, esspecially during the day.

Your boyfriends feet must stink:-P LOL cats like to lay by feet for some reason. And they like it under the blankets because they can hide.

We too have a cat that loves to be under a red blanket. She will climb under it by herself and sleep. If she is laying on the floor and we lay it over her, she just sits there until we move it. It is so cute. We think they feel safe and secure. Just by her actions.

one of my cats enjoys being under the blankets. i think it's just a cat's preference and i am guessing cats that like that like the darkness or like being cozy.

She trusts you more than him which is why she wants to be closer to you.  And cats love hot places, that's why they lie in the sun.  She probably considers that the coziest spot in the house!
