Lately my 8 year old cat has been going to the litter box, using it, and then rushing out of it so fast she leaves "skid marks" on my carpet. She never goes anywhere but the box, but it's like she doesn't take enough time in there to get it all out.

How do I stop this behavior? It's disgusting to come home to.

  1. It could be that it is painful for him to p**p and something wrong with his bum and unable to move the stool. Might want to take him to a vet for a checkup and get the advice of a professional.

  2. My 20 year old cat does this as well...although he doesn't bring much with him but bits of litter. I figured it's because he gets the litter stuck in his paws and this is his attempt to remove it. My cat rockets from the litter box immediately to carpet and picks at it. It could go back to their wilder days when toileting was a risky time for a cat and made them more vulnerable to predators. The rushing could be your cat instinctually fleeing from potential danger.

  3. make a bigger wooden box to put the litter box insidde of that way the the presents that would usually be on the carpet would be on wood n much easier to get off
