Why does my cat sleep in a funny way?

He sleeps on the hand of the couch, kinda desgusting. i think he likes it. but it is very anoying. why does he do that?

That doesn't sound funny to me at all, in fact, it sounds perfectly normal for a kitty. They sleep where they can feel warm, and where they're comfortable, just like you or me. There isn't really anything funny about the way your cat is sleeping.

I love it!!!!!

My cats are very close to my wacko dog.  They act just like him.  They lay on the floor on their backs with legs wide open and arms stretched out over their heads - very secure with themselves...

They also sleep on top of my dog's toys using them as pillows and keeping my dog from playing with them.

It really cracks us up.  If I knew how to put my pictures on a site for you I would.  

They will sleep on the couch or table half on and hanging half off.  I can't help wondering how they don't fall!!!

mine sleeps on the back of our sectional behind our heads and purrs veryy loudly which is kind of annoying when youre trying to watch tv but then he looks oh so comfy and i dont want to disturb him. cats make themselves comfy whereever they want. sometimes both of my kittens will get into the case for the water bottles when its empty or half empty and will fall asleep in there for hrs.

Cats just pick a place they feel secure and comfortable in... no matter how weird it is. My cat has slept behind books on a shelf, on top of the fridge, and in my laundry basket.

he finds that position really comforting , so my cat also does it so dont worry

Perfectly normal. Remember cats aren't human, so they don't have all these weird ideas about what is "disgusting" or not. My cat almost always sleeps on his back with his legs in the air - I think it is so sweet....

Oh so cute!  Mine sometimes sleeps upside down in a canvas shopping back I leave leaned against my wall.  HOnest, it's okay. Just where they feel comfortable.

It might be there's a radiator near, or you are in the room and he likes company (or it's a quiet room and he wants peace). If you really want to change where your kitty sleeps fill a hot water bottle and place it under a rug in a bed for him and take him to it. They love the heat!

Otherwise, if he's doing no harm and is happy then leave him be!  we all do slightly funny things from time to time...
