Why does my cat wheeze?

my cat is 3 years old and wheezes when she is relaxing like sitting on the window ledge she wheezes. it is completely different not like puring at all. is it because she is over weight? she isn't massively over weight but she is a bit fat. my parents tell me i shouldn't worry about it and she is fine. have you experienced this before. and if you have what do i do. she is a persian and has quite a flat nose not really flat because she is only half persian. could this be why? please help me.

Persian's are known for their respiratory problems but if she is wheezing it could be an upper respiratory infection or even Asthma.  you NEED to get her to the vet this morning and get her treated.
