Question:

Why does my charger keep on disconnecting from my pc when it is plugged in and the pc and the outlet?

it pluged in the outlet and in the laptop but after 1min or so it woul say the charger is not plugged in plus (my battery was dead) so the toolbar where it show how much battery i have it would turn red\

  1. Holy ****! What a coincidence! I have a dell inspiron 1501 and yesterday, mine stopped working too. I cut off the shrink wrap tubing at the end of the wire near where it hooks up to the computer. and discovered that the wire was severed because it was bent to much from use. The simple solution was to solder the two wires back together and put on some shrink wrap tubing that I got at Napa. Anyways, here is a cross section diagram

    B=Black outer casing that you can see and touch

    - = negative charge that was severed

    W=The inner insulator for the positive charged wire. It keeps the positive charge from touching the negative charge.

    + = Positive wire.

    I cut the black outer casing with a jack knife.

    Note that the wires do not seem to take solder to well, so flexing it even after the shrink tubing is applied could be bad.

    The final cost was about $7 (for the heat shrink tubing), compare that to the $60 I could have spent for a new one from dell ;-)
