I work in an office and I have someone that sits right next to me.... He is always watching what I am doing and putting me down... He sometimes says nice things but it is followed but a rude punch line. He is the same age as me and always feels the need to call me childish and a kid... He still lives at home with his parents and I am married with a son... SO i dont consider myself very childish.

An example of his behavior is as follows... Actually just happened....

I was looking at some movies online... I saw something about grandma's boy (which I saw and thought was funny) I asked him if he saw it and he said "NO" then he said you remind me of my old co -worker... I said yea thats cool why? Then he said b/c you act like a kid and you have a stupid sense of humor with the things you do and watch....

Why does he have to be like that? He couldn't just say b/c you guys like the same movies..?

I try to ignore him but it then comes to the point where I just yell at him and tell him to leave me alone.

What should I do and Why is he treating me this way?

Does he hate me?

Does he do it b/c he likes me? and this is his way of being funny? like when kids pick on you?

I dont know what to do? I've considered looking for a different job.

Please help and be honest...

  1. I would kill that guy. Grandma's Boy is hilarious. I would just make fun of him. Just say, you are a friggin' loser bud. You have no life. End it please.

  2. Why are you looking at movies online when you're at work? Even just surfing....maybe that's why he thinks you're childish. No offence but it's a thought.

  3. Tell him he's got a pretty high opinion of himself for someone still living with his mom. I'd also point out the fact that 'immature' is insulting someone at every turn  and butting into their business when his opinion wasn't asked for and definitely wasn't wanted. If he persists ask your boss to do something about it even if that just involves moving you away from him. He's got no right to make your job miserable for you.
