Why does my cockatiel bite me?

my cockatiel rarely ever wants to be in his cage mostly just to eat and he has a nest box attached to his cage and he has been in their a lot and it looked like he wanted to get out and when ever i do open the door to let him out he just tries to bite me. what do i do?

  2. Please dont leave a nestbox in the cage. It will only promote egg laying which is not a good thing if your bird is female. excessive egg laying will deplete the calcium  in her body and could cause death. A male with a nestbox might be a bit confused which would cause a change in his behavior. This will put him in the breeding mood and when they are wanting to breed, they will become more aggressive. He's biting to protect his domain. Take down the box, have his wings clipped and begin working with him from there.

  3. take the box out.

    theres no need for a box if your bird doesnt have a mate.

    its confusing him!!

  4. If he's in the nesting box a lot he's probably a she, and female parrots are known to bite more than males.
