  1. mine does it all the time, he is saying "hey guys! this is MINE!" lol its normal  check out http://www.parrotcentral.net/cockatiels.... for good cockatiel info

  2. My parakeet sometimes does this after she eats or tears some paper up on the bottom of her cage. Your cockatiel might just want to clean his beak off.

Your cockatiel might just be playing around, or signaling that he wants you to come play with him. He wants to get your attention to take him out of the cage.

If you look at your cockatiel's beak, and it looks cracked, or starting to crack, take him to your veternarian to try to prevent this. :)

  3. our bird does this sometimes.  However i don't think that he hits his beak. he usually is just scraping food off of his beak. I don't know if thats what is going on with your bird but that might be it.

  4. Male cockatiels often will bang their beaks rhythmically on hard surfaces. This is a normal and expected behaviour, and probably has something to do with estabilishing territory.

Here's a neat link with common 'tiel behaviours that you may find helpful:

So don't worry - sounds like you have a happy, normal, boy!
