Why does my college list Early Childhood Education as 'birth to GRADE 6'?

I thought ECE was just pre-school & kindergarten ages. It has two different majors you can select. One is ECE: birth to grade 3. The other is ECE: birth to grade 6. I'm really confused.

  1. The more expanded your major is, the more likely you will get a job.  Go with the birth to grade 6.

  2. Generally, Birth to Grade 3 is the accepted age range. It may be that the college wants to offer options for teacher certification. You'll have to ask them about the specific requirements for the 2 degrees.
