Why does my comp not boot when I install my 4th gig of ram.?

I have duel channel suppor on my board, my first two slots have the same type of ram and my second slot also has matching pairs. For some odd reason when I attemp to install my 4th gig of ram my comp wont' start up. It's fine with 3, I even swithced out the two ram sticks and it works with 3 just not with 4.

  1. 4th gig ram may be problem or Mhz may vary. login the system using only by the 4th gig you can easily find the solution

  2. If it's Windows XP then theres your problem.

    If it's Vista 32 then you should be able to have 4.

  3. If it is not compatibility issue. its either your mother board cant support 4gig of ram or u have a damaged slot/module

  4. Have you checked to see the maximum amount of ram each slot can hold
