Question:

Why does my computer freeze (including mouse and keyboard) when I watch a video on youtube or any other site?

I have windows vista.

Whenever I watch a video on youtube or any other site (myspace, buzznet, etc), my whole computer freezes after awhile.

I can't even move the keyboard or mouse, and I have to reset my computer.

It hasn't always been doing this, it's just started happening in the last few weeks.

Why is this happening and how can I fix it?

Have I accidently deleted some program needed to play videos properly or something?

Please help.

Thanks. (:

  1. 1)It helps to have a high speed internet connection (lose the dial-up),

2)You should have at least 2 gigabytes of memory, for gaming anyways, and memory for watching movies, tv or video can't hurt.  At the very least you must have 512 megabytes of memory to properly view video content without having the motion freeze, but that's really the bare minimum. A gigabyte is more helpful.  Fortunately, more memory can be easily installed if you need it.

3)You should have enough free space on your hard drive (have you installed a lot of programs or downloaded a lot which may bog down your system, are there any programs you've installed with questionable origins or that may have viruses, spyware or other unwanted programs attached? And how many gigabytes does your hard drive have? - the more the better.

    4) Try going to "tools" on you browser toolbar, then select "internet options", then select "delete", and then "delete all", and finally check off "delete add-ons" in the pop-up. This gets rid of browser history, cookies and other stuff that didn't come with your computer. MySpace is notorious for slowing down computers, especially if you've visited a lot of MySpace pages. I rarely if ever go to myspace and after visiting I always delete it from my computer's history, memory, etc... By getting rid of connections to pages you've visited, along with any spyware you may have unknowingly downloaded by visiting the page it may help. After clearing your browser history, restart your computer and try again.

    5) Run a virus scan. An up to date system should have already deleted and quarantined any viruses, trojans, spyware, etc... from your computer already though. But it is still a good idea to check. Just double click on your computer's virus software icon at the lower right of your screen and click on scan.

    6) There are other things you can do to speed up your computer and make it run more smoothly along with the above points, so don't worry. These things can be a little more technical though, and if you do not feel comfortable doing the procedures yourself, it may help to have a tekkie type person present to walk you through...

Well, hope any or all of this helps you improve your internet experience...
