i am running a intel desktop board d865glc/d865peso with a fireball 40gb ide hdd and a p4 cpu and a 350watt psu. so far every time i start up the computer it takes me to a black screen asking me what i want to do. (boot in safe mode, last known good configuration etc.) but no matter what i choose the computer restarts soon after and results in a never ending loop of restarting and prompting me with what i want to do. i no that it is not a problem with the hdd b/c i formatted the hdd on another computer. i would like to format it on the computer it will be used in but the BIOS that i am using does not allow me to select my dvd drive as the first boot, i think this is b/c it is an old board with an old BIOS. im not sure how to put a new BIOS on when i cant even get the dvd drive to be selected (also i no for a fact that the dvd drive is not broken)... any help is appreciated, THANKS!!!!

  1. I looked at intel.com you can download your manual here:

    http://download.intel.com/support/mother...

Page 80 shows you where to set your boot order.  In the bios it's the last tab before exit.

yes you can set it to boot off the cd.  If it doesn't boot the cd may not be bootable itself.

  2. Your PSU is prolly getting to weak, try upgrading to like a 550w or something
