  1. Try changing the power saver time, or disable it. Control Panel>display>power saver(sometimes says screensaver)

  2. is it when you stop working or all the time,

first step with power off take out and reinstall all cables.

power up #if still the same go to one of these web sites the cure maybe there.

    "it's vista"

    "vista 4 beginners"

    2 good Q and A's sites.

    hope this helps.

  3. Need more info.  Could be due to hardware/software instability or a virus.  Could also be loose or bad power supply.

Are you doing the same thing everytime it shuts down?  Do you lose all power, or does it enter a "sleep" or hybernation mode?

You should start by booting up Vista in safe mode and running a virus scan.

Check to be sure your power supply is securely in place before doing this.  If you have an alternate PC power cord, swap cords to see if the one you have is faulty.

Did this problem start at a point where you recall making any particular change to your software (installing something new or downloading something specific?)

I'm sorry I haven't got an answer, but if you provide a little bit more information maybe someone else can better help you out.
