Why does my computer restart over and over by its self when i put the wireless adapter in?

my computer is a quad core. so its no "old pc"

but it only has one port for using this type of hardware. something was already there thoe. and it was for dial up.

I turn my pc on, the fans go on very high (not normal) wait 4 seconds and it shuts off and then restarts and does it over and over again.

i take the wireless cad out. computer boots up fine.

Maybe its got a virus??

Assuming you plugged the wireless card into the computer correctly, it sounds like you need a new wireless card.
