Why does my computer run slow?

There are many reasons your computer may be running slow.

There's a chance it's just not a very good computer.

But if it's getting old and has steadily started getting slowly there are a few things you can do.

Buy some more RAM for your computer, which always helps.

Download CCleaner (http://www.ccleaner.com/) which removes old and useless files, creating more disk space and a faster computer.

Download Defraggler, (http://www.defraggler.com/, from the same people as CCleaner) a disk defragmenter. Defragmenting your hard drive rearranges many files to make it easier for your computer to find, basically.

All these things are pretty simple to do, but if you're having any problems then just google it.

If it's only suddenly started happening, like my computer once did, then run a Check Disk. (Start -> Run -> CHKDSK)

Either your computer is behind the times and needs a good upgrade or it could be that your computer is infected with Spy ware/Viruses- Try a virus scan or you could try Defragging your hard drives or format your computer with a fresh copy of windows.

What happens when you eat and eat and eat and eat and eat and eat? You get fatter and fatter...

Same thing with a pc, when you constantly install and remove programs, remenents get left behind. This causes bloat in the os. Windows uses free harddrive space as virtual memory, an archaic way to help speed up the system...when you delete you're not really deleting you are freeing up the space to be able to be over written with new data, that causes parts of apps to be "left behind"..forcing windows to create it's virtual memory in small pockets of free space rather than in one smooth contiguous line like a needle over a vinyl record...
