Why does my computer take so long to conect to the internet?

it takes close two minutes from the time I click IE to the time the homepage opens up.

  1. try to "ping yahoo.com" in the "cmd" mode. if the respond speed is normal, then should be the browser problem, try the firefox. else this should be the connection problem. restart the router or modem this may help some time.


  2. It can depend what internet your using. First try doing a disk clean up and see if it helps a little. Also if u are using a modem reset it.

    you are dial up this is normal a lot of the time

    if you are broadband you may be short of ram memory and or memory.

    try ~delete unused programs from your start up list.

    install "ccleaner"(yes 2 c's)~run it,it will clear all the temp files and browser cookies off of your PC.this will help with memory.

    de-frag you hard drive.

    "jkdefraggui"is a very good program,on the first use it may take 2or 3 hours.it will get you some memory back.

    if you have vista installed~you can use a USB "memory stick" as extra ram memory.you insert the stick in a usb port and the  program gives you the option of using it as extra memory.

    1GB stick gives youapproxx 0.8GB of extra ram.
