Why does my connection keep getting lost?

when ever some 1 calls my house my connection gets lost on my computer and on my xbox like idk y it gets lost then i have to wait like a minute to get my connection back so can some one plz tell me how to fix this oh and i cant call bellsouth cause my router isnt being payed for so yea...tell me if i have to push a button or go to a setting help me plz

You need a dsl filter connected to every phone, answering machine or fax connected to your line, as well as the one to your modem or router. No telephone equipment can be fitted direct to the line without, and the phone equipment must be connected correctly to the phone port of the filter.

It seems like your modem is broken. You could try restarting it (disconnect from power for 10 seconds and replug it) and/or resetting its settings.

A friend of mine had the same problem and it turned out to be a defective modem.
