Question:

Why does my cordless telephone make noise after I hang up?

Most people get static noise on their telephone while they're talking, the static is on the phone line. Periodically I actually get a kind of clicking or static noise when I hang up or pick up the phone, and sometimes it continues even a few seconds after I hang up. I was thinking maybe it's static electricity because of the dry cold weather. But that has never happened with any other phone. The only way to clear this is to unplug the phone and plug it back in. But then eventually it will come back. Has anyone else had any experience with this?

  1. All cordless phones will make noise when you hang them up. The reason is that, the handset will send codes(will be heard as very short burst) to the base(base will confirm the codes back to link) during hang up.

Good telephone designers made the noise too short that it couldn't be noticed. Hence, poor designed phones are noisy. Other appliances nearby can affect your cordless phone too. See the FCC notice on the bottom of the base.

  2. Hi,

Unplug all your phones from all the jacks and just plug a normal phone in one jack and see if you have this problem ,

if you have the same problem then it could be on the line, call your service provider and have them check the lines but if the line is clear on the normal phone but still experience the problem on the cordless try changing you channel frequency and see if its getting better .

if this do not work either then you have to contact the vendor from whom you got the cordless and have a check .

  3. if the cordless phone has additional stations..it will link back up with them after use...
