  1. I have a corn snake that does the same thing!  They like habitats where there is not too much light that damages their eyes and they are semi-nocturnal.  Also, if you do not handle him (hold him) he will not want to see you either.

  2. Its completely normal for a snake to stay in its hiding place most of the time. They will sleep different amounts depending on the season or temperature. In the wild a snake will rarely sit out in the open so providing your snake with a place to hid is very important.

  3. Snakes have poor long-range eyesight and therefore do not like to be in the open. A hide is important for the mental health of your snake. A piece of bark or an empty box of appropriate size will suffice. Most pet shops sell decorative plastic or ceramic hides that will enhance the looks of your vivarium, but be sure they are large enough that you can safely free them in case you want to remove them from their hide.

  4. It's natural behavior.

  5. maybe he likes to hide...

    or he might be sick

  6. Well,Corn snakes are really shy reptiles.

Just get him out he wont do anything.

Hold him and let him get used to you and it will be fine.

They also are nocturnal animals so that is why he hinds and comes out at night time.Theirs nothing wrong with that if you want to see him more just do what is said and it will be fine .

Good Luck With The Little Guy:)

  7. Corn snakes are nocturnal... He's acting perfectly normal.
