Every recipe I use turns out awful. Follow the directions, what can I do to prevent the "boiled chicken" taste!

  1. if you are boiling chicken it will taste that way unless you use a different sauce

    SLOW COOKER CHICKEN WINGS

    5 lb. chicken wings

    2 c. brown sugar

    1 c. French's mustard

    4 tbsp. soy sauce

Cut each wing into 3 pieces - throw away the tip. Brown in skillet until golden brown and put in slow cooker (on low).

Mix brown sugar, mustard and soy sauce in saucepan and heat until it becomes liquid. Pour over the wings and cook 2-8 hours.

  2. dont cook it for so long, but pretty much crock pot cooking is boiling so you will get that texture every time

  3. You cannot avoid that taste since crock pots cook by using the steam generated from the liquid so basically you are boiling it.

  4. in the crock pot you can't prevent that...  sorry.. i would rather bake it, or fry it.  or grill it.

  5. You are probably over cooking it. Add some seasonings to the water. Even just salt will make a difference, just don't go overboard.
