Why does my cursor keep going back to the start button?

as I'm scrolling down a page it just flicks to the green start button on the screen please help it really beginning to annoy me

look at the bottom of your mouse if there is a light check for rubbish or muck. if it has a ball twist the bottom part sideways so that the ball can fall out. one that you have taken the ball out. there should be two things that twist round and one thing that goes in and twist round. get the muck off of these and then put the ball in, twist the cover and if that doesn't work then your mouse is broken.

if it's an optical mouse (red light on the bottom) it may have a bit of junk on it causing the mouse to think it's moving.

also those stupid fake wood patterns on desks and some patterns on mouspads play havoc on optical mice sometimes.

try using a white sheet of paper as a "mousepad" it works awesome.

You don't say what kind of mouse you have which would help diagnose the problem because they all work in different ways depending what you bought it for. It's obvious it's in the mouse's settings.

Also like for instance is it a roller, optic, thumb ball, does it work on a pad that plugs into a USB socket, does it have a tune button, is it wireless etc etc?

Open control panel and choose mouse. Click pointer options and disable ‘automatically move pointer to default button in dialogue box’.
