  1. HVAC Tech. Sounds like you have plenty humidity in the air. The coils are just a bit to cold, so as the air becomes cooler and dryer the coils drop below freezing an build a block of ice  and they become useless to you but they are still using electricity.  Move the thermostats to a warmer setting. If you can Keep that coil around 40/45 degrees it will catch water all night/day and not freeze over.

  2. Six of them? Have you considered a whole house dehumidifier rather than those puny things?

  3. You may find that as the weather changes, they don't freeze up anymore.  There is a discussion about this situation on this forum:

Do you have a way of checking the actual humidity in the house?  If it's not very humid, you might consider not running your dehumidifiers.  They may be freezing up because of a lack of moisture in your home.  It's just a thought.

  4. the thermostat is set to low. Back it off. In the middle of the night when the temp drops is when they freeze. Back off of the thermostats at night.

  5. Have you checked to see if there is a fliter that might need cleaning?
