Question:

Why does my display not work?

Let me first get this across: I know absolutely nothing about cars.

That being, you might want to keep in consideration that you don't want to use big terms if you want a best answer.

So, basically I took out my Alpine stereo (don't know the exact name) and when I went to put it back in I apparently tried to put it in wrong because there are a few problems with it.

- I have no display.

- I have one radio station.

- None of my buttons work.

- I put a CD in it, knowing that my CD player was already broken, and now I can't take that CD out.

So now I have no music playing whatsoever because I can't switch back to the radio.

My mom says I can unplug and plug in in the car battery and it will reset the stereo and I have yet to do that.

Please keep in mind that I've talked to friends and they've already told me to buy a new stereo so don't give an idiotic answer as such. I'm determined to fix it and if you can help me I'd be as overjoyed as to give you a best answer.

Thanks.

  1. This a case of the defective installer. No display may be the memory lead (yellow wire) may not be getting power. HOWEVER, the stereo needs serviced, there is no possible way you could repair it yourself. the cd mechanism is broken, if the presets and source buttons are inop,  don't be a jerk, pitch & replace or have it serviced.

  2. if the head unit was working before you took it out then you probably just didnt connect a the wires correctly when you put it back in. take it back out of the dash and make sure each of the wires are connected to the same colored wire and if this still dosent work than i would just get a new head unit because theres no way you'll be able to fix it if its anything beyond that.
