Why does my dog cry when I give her a bone?

Question

Whenever I give my dog a bone (that I get from the local butcher) she takes it, walks around, with her tail up, and cries. Its so strange. She doesn't do it with other toys I give her. And after a while she stops crying and enjoys chewing her bone.

Its such strange behaviour and I'd love to know why she does it. Thanks!

I think she has a dental problem. You must should go to vet.

Got huskies who do this. It's a sort of mild food guarding thing. She is saying "this is my bone . I love it and no-one is getting it" Sounds like it's an acting thing tho. With my huskies it's for real and battle will commence if someone dares..apart from me and the chihuahua...tries to steal a bone

my dog does the same thing! i think its because they really love it and want to show people how excited and happy they are

I wonder if this is something to do with her ancient roots - what breed is this?  Perhaps she's announcing to the invisible pack that she has a bone - crying would bring the pack in to check on one of their members?  When nobody comes, she feels safe and gets on with enjoying the bone ...... just a thought.
