  1. My dog does this too!  He follows me to the bathroom, to get up to answer the phone, to look out the window, to get up to the kitchen for a snack...everywhere!  It's like I avoid getting up now so he doesn't get up.  I've lost 5 pounds because I avoid going into the kitchen to make food!  Seriously, it's because they love you and they are your trusted companion...

  2. Because you are the pack leader. Appreciate it, he loves you...if he follows you, just pat him on the head. He's not doing anything wrong...

  3. These dogs are sometimes referred to as 'velcro' dogs (see link). And they do this because they are insecure, not because they see you as the pack leader. In fact if they were more secure in their place in the 'pack' they would not feel the need to follow you so closely. These dogs also are prone to separation anxiety. Does he display any other signs of separation distress?

  4. Do you leave your dog home alone a lot? maybe he misses you, loves you. dogs get plenty of rest don't worry, enjoy being loved.

  5. becus he loves you and he thanks you're his master

  6. My dog does this with my sister, it is just a sign that they are very attached to you and want your security, or that they are trying to keep tabs on you.

Most dogs can understand instinctively a simple "Stay" command.  When said with authority and in a lower tone (higher tones are used to beckon to dogs), the dog should recognize instantly that this means "back off" or "stay put".  Also, a hand extended with palm facing toward the dog helps.  When you dog gets up to follow you, try the "Stay" command.  If he obeys, wait for a while, then praise him.  Do this when you leave rooms, and when you come back, praise him for staying.  He should learn in time that following you is not always necessary.

  7. He gets plenty of rest. He follows you because you are his pack leader and that is what occurs in packs. You lead, he follows. Appreciate the loyalty and affection he has for you.

  8. My dog follows me everywhere I go. Dogs are pack animals and they want to always be around their leader.  Its only natural that the dog wants go be around you when they can.  Also, if you don't want to dog to get up at night, but him/her in a crate. My dog sleeps in a crate every night, she knows when I tell her "crate" its time to go to bed.   My dog does follow me to the bathroom, but I don't let her in when I'm going...  I tell her to "go" and point at the door.  She walks out and lays by the door...Just tell the dog what you want, the they will listen.. just don't yell and stay calm and consistent.

  9. Mine is laying here on my lap sleeping and if I get up he will too. He follows me everywhere cause he knows I'm the pack leader and he wants to see what I'm up to.  He wants to be with the pack and the leader.  Your dog is doing the same thing.  It's when he STOPS following you, then you have problems cause then he no longer sees you as the pack leader or part of the pack and thats not good at all.  I enjoy it and I would hope you will learn to also.  He doesn't need rest, he needs u.

  10. My dog does this too, I joke that I should've named her "follow", lol. I guess they just want to know what you're doing or go where you're going. I'm sure he/she gets plenty of sleep!

  11. my dog follows me to. everywhere! lol. when id be in the bathroom she would lay outside the door untill i came out so if i had an hour shower she would still be there. its there loyalty. ive heard that a dog is the only animal that will love its owner more than its self. thats something to think about. so hug your dogs ppl! ;)

  12. Because he loves you and you are his owner
