I have a little Maltese named Chloe. She usually eats her treats but when my BF comes over, she puts them in his shoes! Sometimes she will go back later and eat them, other times my BF starts laughing as he digs a bone, chewy or dog biscuit out of his shoe when he leaves. The weird thing is, she never puts them in MY shoes, ever!
This is hilarious and if it's not connected with behavior problems I am fine just letting her do it. What does this mean in 'dog language'? Does this mean she likes him? Is she trying to get attention? Is it some kind of territory related behavior? Or is it just one of the random things that dogs do that can't be explained? My boyfriend was a little jealous of all the attention I gave her at first but he has since gotten over it. Was it her way of trying to make friends? Or do dogs not comprehend such things?
Personally, I think the dog has a sense of humor. When it started happening we would laugh and pet her calling her 'silly doggie' and stuff. Maybe she sees that it makes us happy and she gets attention. I don't know. She doesn't seem to have any major behavior problems BUT she is a realy smart dog and she loves attention. What are the possible reasons why she would do this?
