  1. the dog is just making sure its clean

  2. She licks herself because she's cleaning herself. That's just like us taking a bath only they l**k themselves more often. She licks you because she likes you. You must be a good owner! She also must be a very clean dog. lol! My dog does that too! :) x

  3. Pups and adults l**k and groom themselves. It is part of normal survival-oriented behavior. l*****g their own lips, limbs, and trunk removes traces of the last meal that would otherwise begin to decompose and smell. Quite apart from the hygienic aspects of this behavior, it also serves to keep dogs relatively odor free and thus olfactorily invisible to their prey. Domestic dogs retain these instincts even though they are not vital today.

    Hope i helped

  4. My dog loves to l**k too. Everything! I think it might just be affection or boredom. My dog licks the couch and the bedsheets and the floor and everything that moves! I agree that it could be nerves, but I'm really not that sure. Maybe there isn't any reason at all. Maybe it's like how some people bite their nails out of habbit, some dogs just l**k things... XD

  5. Dogs can actually demonstrate obsessive tendencies like people can with obsessive compulsive disorder. Dogs will incessantly l**k themselves, sometimes to the point of self-mutilation, creating sore, open areas called l**k-granulomas. This is a behavioral issue usually brought about from boredom and can be modified with the right trainer or your vet can offer a medication comparable to Prozac for dogs, if the training proves to be ineffective.

It would be best to visit your local veterinarian just to be on the safe side and rule out any health disorders like allergies or an injury. Dogs will often l**k an area that is painful, like arthritis, for example, or if she is l*****g between her legs, it could be a urinary tract infection, etc. It will depend on the area she is paying attention to diagnose her properly. If your vet has determined the issue to be behavioral he or she can then guide you in the direction of a reputable trainer, or, if severe, give you the appropriate medication.

  6. Dogs l**k because of allergies, pain, or neurotic. We had a Yorky that had allergies and she licked her hair off. We currently have an old cocker mix that licks her front legs when the hurt from arthritis. And just as people are neurotic dogs can be as well. They can be nervous and it's a way to sooth themselves.

  7. Relax every dog licks its ok for a dog to l**k a lot its just making sure its clean and that your clean:)

  8. We can't really tell you why.

Where is she l*****g?  That plays a large part of it.

What's the weather like?  How well was she bred?  Tons of info would be needed to properly tell you.

l*****g and chewing is a major symptom of allergies though, which is what my dog did until we could figure it out.
