Why does my door not close in the summer but it does it the winter?

right now its hot and wont close fully, but when it gets cold out it will close all the way

  1. Cold air moves into the room outside pushing your door closed. Hot air moves in your room keeping your door open.

    Try experimenting with your air conditioner.


  2. The humidity in the air causes the door to swell but in the winter, it behaves differently because of the lack of humidity.

  3. The door is swelling in the high humidity and shrinking back to it's normal size in the lower humidity. Seal the top and bottom edges with primer in the fall and it will probably swell up less next summer.
