Why does my energy saving light globe flashes after it has been turned off?

I have heard about this.  First of all, make sure that you're not using a compact fluorescent in a socket controlled by a dimmer switch or timer (unless you purchase bulbs made specifically for that kind of use). I've also heard of people having difficulties with lighted switches.   If that isn't the problem, the lighting fixture or switch may have been incorrectly wired.
