Question:

Why does my eye hurt?

I have a new eye prescription of -1.75 and -2.75. For general things – in the house, even walking down the street – I don’t see too badly. If I need to see well like at the cinema or driving I always wear my glasses. Now though it’s like my worst eye gets strained without glasses. I went into town today for some shopping, no glasses, and after a while my eye felt really tired, I probably need them for shopping as I can’t see the signs but I can’t understand why my eye actually hurts (dull ache). With glasses it’s fine. My eyes are healthy so no other problems.

Why does it hurt? The only thing that helps is to wear my glasses. Has anyone heard of someone wearing glasses fulltime to stop that sort of symptom?

  1. Your prescription is high enough you need to wear them all the time except on the computer and reading. Your eyes hurt because they are straining to see, they are working too hard. They don't hurt when you wear your glasses because they can relax and let the glasses do the work. Your prescription must have changed a bit because you now need to wear them. Your symptom is NORMAL for your vision, you need to wear your glasses.

  2. Wear your glasses full time then.  The "bad" eye hurts because it is trying to focus too hard.  Now that it's used to being able to focus, it's hard for your mind to understand why it gets blurry again and directs your eye to focus again and again.

  3. This might not be eye strain, it could be some face cream has got in your eye.

  4. Does It Leak?

My Mum Had A Sore Eye, And Still Has, Maybe Your Gland Is Swollen? I Think You Should Book A docter Appointment, And Then Your Docter Should Beable To Tell You More.

Might Prescribe You With Anticbiotics Like My Mums Docter Did :)

Or Maybe Your Glasses Arent The Right Prescription :S

    Good Luck,
