its a reflex your body does when it is frightened.  The idea is that animals pick up on color change and when your face changes color they are less likely to attack because red is usually a dangerous color... Now that we are no longer hunters and gatherers this reflex tends to depict emotion of nervousness, anger, and or embarrassment.
